Chinese Society - CSULB

The Chinese Society (CS) of CSULB is the only school recognized Chinese Student Organization around the Long Beach area.  Founded in 2001 by Dr. Robert Chi, Chair of the CSULB Information Systems Department in the College of Business.  The goal of the Chinese Society is to promote opportunities for sharing history, culture, knowledge, and opinions with people from other countries, as well as the exchange to assist one another in studying, to promote ethical leadership and academic achievement, and to cultivate civic responsibility, and to provide opportunities for community and campus service.

By the first year of its contribution to Chinese community, Chinese society has not only attracted members over one hundred, but also put together several exciting events.  The next year, Chinese society kept all the wonderful events, and it expended several programs helping its fellow members. Externally, Taipei economic and Cultural Office in Los Angeles has been a great support for Chinese Society.

This is Chinese society’s third year. It is continue to have more members. With more than 250 members, this August, Chinese Society associated with the China Student and Scholar Association (CSSA), which connect more than fifteen universities around Southern California area.  It also kept a close relation with CSULB Asian Committee, so members will have an easier way to communicate with some of CSULB Professors. It started several programs such as movie afternoon and language exchange program to welcome more and more Non-Chinese speakers.  Members can freely chart on Chinese Society’s website, exchange information, ask questions, and post tips on course selections and so on.

The website for Chinese Society is www.csulb.edu/org/chinese-society , more information can be found on that website, and it has the access to e-mail regarding some questions.
